CORPORATE OVERVIEW The Company and the Concept WaveFront Sciences was founded with the express intent of commercializing advancements in the area of diffractive optics technologies. The primary mission of the company is the development of versatile, optics-based products which may be applied either directly as stand-alone instruments or embedded into industrial applications. These products are currently based around wavefront sensor technologies which provide competitive advantages in either parametric performance, productibility, or cost/performance ratios. Strategically, WaveFront Sciences has focused on rapid product development to allow the introduction of a product to the market as quickly as possible. WaveFront Sciences guiding philosophy is to develop and manufacture optical instrumentation which serves an identified market, meets customers' needs, and establishes a profitable business line. WaveFront Sciences' wavefront sensor based products are recognized as the standard by which other products are compared. The CLAS-2D™ system provides direct measurement of optical phase for users of laser and optical systems in industrial, manufacturing, and research applications. The COAS™ family provides the highest resolution measurement of the human eye available in the world and supports improved refractive surgery procedures with multiple laser manufacturers. Other instruments provide manufacturing process/quality control metrology for transmissive and reflective optical components. In addition to diffractive optics based instrumentation, the design and manufacture of diffractive optics components for OEM applications provides a second business unit. WaveFront Sciences is one of a small group of companies world-wide which can provide both the design and production capability for components of this type. This technology area is on the threshold of exploding in our society. Micro-optics is now often compared to the semiconductor industry of 30 years ago. WaveFront Sciences currently produces custom optics for a variety of customers including commercial, instrumentation, government/defense, and the telecommunications industry. In January 2007, WaveFront Sciences was acquired by Advanced Medical Optics, Inc. |
